1752 m high Mount Nimba is located between Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire and rises above the surrounding savannah. Its slopes, it is covered by dense forest at the foot of grassy mountain pastures and it harbours an especially rich flora and fauna. including endemic species such as the viviparous toad and chimpanzees that use stones as tools.

Mount Nimba is included in the Réserve Naturelle Intégrale du Mont Nimba (Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve), which is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Mount Nimba lies in a remote region straddling the borders of Guinea, Côte d'Ivoire and Liberia.
