Nampula

Nampula is the major city of northern Mozambique. It is 1300 km northeast of Maputo and a good place to spend the night if you are travelling to the town of Moçambique. The area around Nampula consists of plains and rocky outcrops.

In Nampula you'll find the interesting Ethnographic Museum, several lively markets, cathedrals and mosques. The city has several universities, training institutes and schools.

Accommodation and restaurants are available in Nampula. The city has road and rail links with the port city of Nacalas, as well as inland with Malawi. The airport is not far from town and offers direct connections with Nairobi (Kenya), Johannesburg (South Africa) and Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania) amongst others.
