Nazca
The town of Nazca is famous for its beautiful pottery and the so-called Lineas de Nazca (Nazca Lines)
. The Nazca Lines consist of some 700 huge geometric designs that were made in the ground, mostly of animals and birds that are thought to have been constructed between 500 BC and 500 AD.

The Nazca Lines consist of some 700 huge geometric designs that were made in the ground, mostly of animals and birds that are thought to have been constructed between 500 BC and 500 AD.The lines were made by removing 10 to 15 cm of the top soil, to expose different coloured rocks from underneath. The dry climate and the resulting lack of vegetation, has preserved the lines over the centuries.
The figures are so large, that they can only be seen from the air. Numerous scenic flights over the area are available in the town of Nazca.
There are many hotels and restaurants in Nazca. The city is 385 km southeast of Lima and the Nazca Lines are only about 15 km northwest of Nazca.
