Newport (Delaware)
The town of Newport sits on the Christina River in the north of Delaware.
The first land grant for the area was awarded to the Duke of York in 1641. In 1735, businessman John Justis bought 0.4 km² (100 acres) of land there and a few years later the first streets of the town, then called Newport-Ayre, were laid out. Its name was later changed to Newport.
There are several hotels and restaurants in Newport. The town is 65 km north of Dover.
