Parc National Forêt des Pines (Pine Forest National Park)

Parc National Forêt des Pines (Pine Forest National Park)

The Parc National Forêt des Pines (PNN-FP) includes the largest remaining swath of pine forest in Haiti. It covers 18,780 hectares and it is divided into 2 sections: Unité 1 and Unité 2.

Unit 1 covers 4,780.57 hectares.

Unit 2 covers 14,031 hectares and is centered on Pic la Selle, which is 2,680 m high, making it Haiti's highest peak.

The road to the park provides excellent views over the forested mountains, but at many places one can also see the effects of deforestation and erosion that are widespread in Haiti. The Cascade Pichon is a series of waterfalls, lovated within the parc.

Accommodation is available in the form of cabins at the official entrance to the park, but you can also set up your tent there if you wish. The Parc National Forêt des Pines is some 40 km southeast of Port-au-Prince.

Because of widespread anarchy it is not recommended to travel to Parc National Forêt des Pines (Pine Forest National Park), or any other destination in Haiti at this moment.
