Perquín
During El Salvador's civil war in the 1980's, Perquín was the FMLN rebels' headquarters and now houses the Museo de la Revolución Salvadoreña, where you can see photos, weapons and maps showing the progress of the civil war.
Accommodation is available in town. The area around Perquín offers pine groves, coffee plantations, mountains, rivers and waterfalls. Every year during the first week of August a festival is held in Perquín. The town is 115 km northeast of San Salvador. Buses ply the route.
