Piriápolis
Piriápolis is a holiday resort 85 km east of Montevideo. It is a good place to stay if you want to explore the surrounding countryside, climb the 493-meter high Cerro Pan de Azúcar, or just laze on the beach.
The Rambla de los Argentinos is the city's waterfront promenade. A chair lift takes you to the Templo de San Antonio, which sits atop a hill that provides great views over the Piriápolis. Boat tours and saltwater fishing trips can be arranged in the port of Piriápolis.
The Castle of Piria is not far from Piriápolis. The town of Minas, further inland is also an interesting destination.
