Port Shepstone is an industrial town on the mouth of the Mzimkhulu River, 100 km southwest of Durban on the Indian Ocean coast. There are some interesting sites in Port Shepstone. Boat trips on the Mzimkhulu River can be arranged in town. At the mouth is Port Shepstone Lighthouse, which was built in 1906. Port Shepstone Museum has exhibitions on Port Shepstone's history.

Port Shepstone is a good town to stay if you want to explore places such as Oribi Gorge, Aliwal Shoal, Umtanvuma Nature Reserve, Pure Venom Reptile Farm and the Riverbend Crocodile Farm. There are several good beaches around Port Shepstone and accommodation is available.
