Portsmouth (New Hampshire)
Portsmouth is a historic seaport and a popular summer tourist destination on the Piscataqua River. There are numerous places of interest in Portsmouth.
- Buckminster House was built in 1725. It was formerly a funeral parlor.
- There are 4 public sculptures made by Cabot Lyford in Portsmouth. They include 'The Whale' and 'My Mother the Wind', which is a 7-ton granite statue that was installed on the city's waterfront in 1975.
- The Music Hall is a 900-seat theater that opened in 1878.
- New Hampshire Theatre Project was founded in 1986. It is a non-profit theater organization that produces contemporary and classical works. It also offers educational programs.
- North Church is a historic church with a tall steeple that is visible from most of Portsmouth.
- The Player's Ring Theater is a black-box venue, where original work from local playwrights are produced.
- The Pontine Theatre is another black box theatre where theater works based on the history, culture and literature of New England are produced. It has 50 seats.
- Portsmouth African Burying Ground an 18th-century African burying ground and memorial park.
- Portsmouth Athenæum is a library, museum and art gallery.
- The Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse was originally erectted in 1771, but in 1878 it was rebuilt. From May to September, monthly tours are organised.
- The John Paul Jones House is operated by the Portsmouth Historical Society, which also includes museum galleries, a gift shop, welcome center and walking tours. It was founded in 1917.
- The Rockingham Hotel and the Library Restaurant is a historic former hotel that houses a restaurant. The building was constructed in 1885.
- The Seacoast Repertory Theatre was founded in 1988.
- The Strawbery Banke Museum consists of a neighborhood where you can see a few dozen restored historic homes in Colonial, Georgian and Federal architectural styles.
- The USS Albacore Museum & Park is a U.S. Navy submarine that was decommissioned in 1972 and converted into a museum.
- At the Prescott Park Arts Festival several event are organised throughout the summers.

- The Moffatt-Ladd House is also called the William Whipple House. It was built in 1763.
- The Richard Jackson House dates from 1664.
- The Rundlet-May House was constructed in 1807.
- The Tobias Lear House dates from 1740.
- The Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion dates from 1750.
- The Wentworth-Gardner House is also knwon as the Wentworth House. It dates from 1760.
