Ravello

Ravello

Ravello is a scenic town, only a few kilometers east of Amalfi. Because of its scenic location, Ravello was inscribed in the UNESCO list of world heritage sites in 1997.

There is an interesting duomo in Ravello, which has six lions carved at the base of its pulpit. There are many beautiful houses with nice gardens in Ravello. Villa Rufolo was built in 1270. La Rondinaia, also known as the Swallow's Nest, for its precarious location on a cliff face was built in the 1930's.

Apart from the duomo, there are several other interesting churches in Ravello. The church of San Giovanni del Toro was built before the year 1000. The church of Santa Maria a Gradillo dates from the 11th century. The Sanctuary of Saints Cosmas and Damian from the 14th century is also worth a vist.

Accommodation and restaurants are widely available in town. Ravello is 230 km southeast of Rome.
