Rishikesh
Rishikesh, or Hrishikesh, is a quite place in northern Uttar Pradesh, where most people come to meditate and practice yoga. The town is a good place to stay if you want to make treks to the Himalayan pilgrimage centers like Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
It is a pilgrimage place for Hindus and there are countless temples and ashrams (spiritual hermitages, or monasteries) built along the banks of the river.
The Neer waterfall is on Neergarh Waterfall road.
The Tehri Dam is 86 km (53 mi) from Rishikesh. Another popular yoga destination is Uttarkashi, 170 km (110 mi) away.
Rishikesh lies in a hilly area on the right bank of the Ganges River, not far from Dehradun and some 190 km northeast of Delhi. There are many hotels and restaurants in town.
