Shahre Ray (شهرری)
Shahre Ray is also known as Shahr-e Ray, Shahre Rey, or Shahr-e Rey. In ancient times it was called Rhages, Rhagae and Arsacia. It is the capital of Rey County in Tehran Province. It used to be a separate city, but with the growth of Tehran, it has been absorbed into the metropolitan area of Greater Tehran. Shahre Ray is also the oldest city in the region.
It has been destroyed several times during its existence, after Arabs, Turks and Mongols invaded. Despite of this, numerous historical monuments still remain. They include the Neolithic site of Cheshme-Ali, the reconstructed medieval Rey Castle, the Parthian-era Rashkan Castle, the Sasanian-era Fire Temple of Bahram and the Islamic shrine of Bibi Shahrbanu.
Because of the war with israel it is not recommended to travel to Shahre Ray (شهرری), or any other destination in Iran at this moment.
