Shaoshan (韶山)

Shaoshan was the birthplace of Mao Zeodong, China's first communist leader. The town is quite beautiful and has a very relaxed atmosphere. There is an exaggerating excess of communist propaganda though.

There are several hotels and restaurants in this Maoist pilgrimage town. Shaoshan is 1395 km south of Beijing.
