Sidi Abdel Rahman is a beach resort, located 25 km northwest of El Alamein on the Mediterranean coast. It has beautiful white sand beaches and it is very quiet. The area is inhabited by nomadic Bedouins, as the government tries to make these people settle and abandon their nomadic lifestyle.
Other than laying on the beach, there is not much to do in Sidi Abdel Rahman. Be careful when wandering too far into the desert, as there are a large number of unexploded WWII landmines in the area.
There are several Mausoleums and a cemetery for Allied soldiers in the vicinity of Sidi Abdel Rahman. The unmarked remains of thousands of German soldiers can be found in the cemetery.
Buses connect the town with Alexandria. There are numerous hotels, cafés and restaurants in Sidi Abdel Rahman.
