Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park
The Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park covers some 650 hectares of parabolic sand dunes. The dunes were formed as a result of erosion in the coastal hinterland. They are between 20 m and 60 m tall.
Archaeological evidence shows that the area has been inhabited since at least 600 BC. Pottery shards, stone tools, human remains and other archaeological relics have been unearthed in the dunes.
The Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park is located at the mouth of the Sigatoka River on the island of Viti Levu and about 3 km west of Sigatoka. The park was established in 1989.
