Suai
Suai lies in the southwest of East Timor. During Portuguese colonial times, the area used to be an important resource of sandalwood, teak and vanilla, but under Indonesian rule, the use of unsustainable logging practices have destroyed most of the forests.
Accommodation is available in Suai. The road from Dili to Suai is usually un-navigable during the rainy season, but there is an airport not far from town. Suai is 90 km southwest of Dili.
