Tioman Island
Tioman is a small island in the South China Sea, not far off Peninsular Malaysia's southeastern coast. The island has a small population, but during the tourist season, from June to August, it gets very busy with tourists, who come to enjoy Tioman's marvelous beaches, unspoilt jungle highlands and crystal-clear waters. Between November and January, during the monsoon period, there are no tourists and the island is almost deserted.
Tioman is densely forested and surrounded by coral reefs, which boast an abundant marine life. Nice little streams crisscross the interior of the island and there one can also visit the peaks of Batu Sirau and Nenek Semukut for excellent views of Tioman.
On the island's west coast are several villages, including the popular tourist resort of Pulau Tioman. Another nice place to visit is Kampung Nipah, which is more quite because of its remote location.
