The island of Tobago has many good beaches, fantastic bird watching possibilities and numerous beautiful reefs, which are excellent for scuba diving and snorkeling.
Tobago's airport of Crown Point is in the center of the main tourist resort area, on the island's western end. Some of the most interesting places on Tobago include the fishing villages of Speyside, Charlotteville and the town of Buccoo, which boasts a marvelous reef.
Pirate's Bay, off of Charlotteville has good diving and snorkeling possibilities as well. The bay got its name from the secluded haven it provided to marauding buccaneers in the 17th century. Rumors go that treasures are still buried there.
Off of Tobago's coast are several uninhabited islets that boast and abundant bird life and make good eco-tourist destinations. Some of the most interesting ones include Little Tobago, Goat Island and Saint Giles Island.
Tobago is 35 km (22 mi) northeast of the island of Trinidad.
