Trou-aux-Biches

Trou-aux-Biches

Trou-aux-Biches used to be a small fishing village with a beautiful beach. The beach was said to be the most beautiful in Mauritius and as a result, the very first large hotel in Mauritius was constructed there in 1971. Nowadays the town boasts many tourist resorts and hotels.

Not far from town you can see Maheswarnath Mandir, the country's largest Hindu temple. About a kilometre from town, on the road towards Pointe-aux-Piments, is an interesting aquarium, that features eels, sharks, turtles, rays, octopi and colorful tropical reef fish.

Trou aux Biches is 13 km northeast of Port Louis.
