Xiqiao Hills (西樵山)
The scenic Xiqiao Hills lie about 70 km southwest of Guangzhou in the Guangdong province. In the area are 36 caves, 32 springs, 28 waterfalls and 21 crags. The highest peak is Dacheng Peak (大秤峰). It stands some 345 m above sea level and offers scenic views over the surrounding national park from its top. The park also features the 50 million year old extinct volcano of Mount Xiqiao. At its summit sits a 66 m (217 ft) tall statue of the goddess Guanyin. A cable car will get you there.
Other interesting sites in the area are the Baiyun Caves (白云洞) and the Baofeng Temple (宝峰寺). Nearby is an interesting little market town.
