Zambezi River
The Zambezi River is 2,574 km (1,599 mi) long, making it the 4th-longest river in Africa. It is also known as Zambeze, or Zambesi.
The river rises in the western tip of Zambia, then flows eastwards and forms the Chavuma Falls, before entering Angola. If flows through the east of Angola. It then flows southwards through the west of Zambia, where it flows through the Ngonye Falls.
The river then forms the border between Namibia's Caprivi Strip and Zambia. At Katima Mulilo the Zambezi River is crossed by the Katima Mulilo Bridge that connects Namibia with Zambia.
A short section of the river forms the border between Botswana and Zambia, after which it turns east to form the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It tumbles down Victoria Falls
and continues to former the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, after which it enters Mozambique, where it runs in southeastern direction to empty into the Indian Ocean.

The Kariba Dam provides power to Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Cahora Bassa Dam in Mozambique provides power to Mozambique and South Africa. There are smaller power stations at Victoria Falls and in Zengamina.
