Arucas

Arucas

Arucas is a lovely old town with nice parks. It is situated in the northern part of Gran Canaria, on an impressive high coast with numerous picturesque small bays. The town is dominated by its huge neo-Gothic Iglesia de San Juán, which is always referred to as the Catedral. The building dates from 1909, but one of its towers was never finished. Some of Gran Canaria's most important banana plantations are in the same area. The volcano of Montaña de Arucas is not far from town.

Accommodation and restaurants are available in Arucas. The town is about 1640 km southwest of Madrid.
