Just out of town are some hilltop temples, a lake and more wats. Battambang is a good place to stay if you want to explore some of the villages in the region.
There are numerous hotels and restaurants in Battambang and the city is a stop on the main railway between Thailand and Cambodia. Battambang has air, rail and road links with Phnom Penh, 260 km to the southeast.
