Fujian Province

Most Taiwanese consider Fujian to be their ancestral home and the island has always tried to keep close ties with this province, just across the Taiwan Strait. The area's local dialect is very similar to Taiwanese. There are several inetersting places to visit in the Fujian province.

The city of Xiamen is a nice place to visit, as well as the nearby island of Gulangyu. The walled city of Chongwu and the inland town of Yongding boasts interesting architecture, while the island of Meizhou Dao is very scenic and has numerous interesting temples. Fujian's capital of Fuzhou is an ugly industrial place.
