The mountainous province of Guizhou is more backward than the rest of China and less visited by tourists. This doesn't mean it is less interesting. There are several interesting sights, such as China's largest waterfall, known as Huangguoshu Falls. The waterfall is in the southwest of Guizhou. The province is known throughout China for its Maotai liquor, which was named after the village in Renhuai County, where it was first brewed. The town of Kaili is a good place to base yourself if you want to explore the surrounding areas of Leishan, Xijiang, Danxi and Qingman, where numerous festivals are held. Kaili is east of the province's capital of Guiyang.
