Gurk
Most people visit Gurk for its beautiful Romanesque cathedral. It was built between 1140 and 1200 and is dominated by two huge onion domes, on top of square, twin towers. Inside are Gothic vaults on the ceiling, while most fittings are Baroque or Rococo. The high altar boasts 72 statues and 82 angels' heads.
Accommodation is available in Gurk, though most people prefer to stay in Klagenfurt, 30 km to the south. Gurk is 215 km southwest of Wien (Vienna).
