Jarabacoa lies in the Cordillera Central, the mountainous central region of the Dominican Republic. The area has a temperate climate, which is perfect for growing cherries, apples and strawberries and almost all of the mountainsides around Jarabacoa are covered with trees that grow these fruits. The climate doesn't vary much throughout the year and the spring time temperatures have attracted many wealthy Dominicans who have their second home in Jarabacoa.
On weekend afternoons, the town's Parque Central is filled with youngsters looking for love and later in the day they all seem to cruise around Jarabacoa's streets in all sorts of vehicles.
In the area around town you will find several waterfalls and swimming holes and their are plenty of opportunities for hiking and horseback riding. Jarabacoa also boasts a golf course.
There are several hotels and many restaurants in town. Jarabacoa is 105 km northwest of Santo Domingo.
