Nakhon Pathom



Nakhon Pathom is regarded as Thailand's oldest city and it is home to the orange tiled Phra Pathom Chedi, with its 127 m the tallest Buddhist monument in the world. Theravada Buddhists erected the original statue in the 6th century, but it was later amended several times by the Khmer, the Burmese and the Chinese and nowadays it is protected by a huge orange-glazed dome.

Not far, at Khlong Damnoen Saduak is an interesting floating market.

There are several hotels and restaurants in Nakhon Pathom. The city is 55 km west of Bangkok.
