Northeastern China

The northeast of China is usually freezing cold during the long winter. The region is far less developed than most of the rest of China and the scenery is absolutely stunning. There are several great skiing resorts in the area and the main industries are chemicals and iron ore.

  • Transportation

Flights in northeastern China are available between several different cities. Trains run several times a week and connect all major the major cities with the rest of China, as well as with North Korea. Harbin is a possible starting or finishing station for the Trans-Siberian Railway. There are also good road connections between most places in northern China, but in the eastern Jilin and the northern parts of the Heilongjiang provinces the roads are only navigable between June and September. The rest of the year they are iced and traffic is very problematic.
