Poindimié boasts rocky beaches, but they are still a nice place for swimming and snorkeling. There are many small islands and reefs not far off the coast from Poindimié, which are among the best places in New Caledonia for scuba diving.
At the southern end of town is the Municipal Pool Vasarely Mosaic that was designed by Victor Vasarely to brighten up the gray urbanized areas. The War Memorial commemorates U.S. involvement in the War of the Pacific. It sits on a hill in Poindimié. A more interesting sight is the Tié Mission. It includes a church that dates from 1866. The mission is not far north of Poindimié, along the RT3.
There are several hotels and restaurants in Poindimié. The town is on the northeastern coast of Grande Terre, some 190 km northwest from Nouméa. Poindimié is served by buses that run along the Highway RT3.
