Sukarara is set in a rice-growing region and known for its weaving and basketwork crafts. Many houses in Sukarara are built from local stone, which is quite unusual in the area. In nearly every house is an old wooden handloom and large parts of the town's population is involved in the manufacturing of traditional weavings. Most of the material is made in the surrounding villages though, and the variety of size, quality and style is so great that it is almost impossible to compare prices. Overall the works are well worth the price tag, as they are of high quality and not too expensive.
There are several places where you can stay in Sukarara and food is also available in town. Sukarara is 1080 km east of Jakarta.
