Surfer's Paradise and the Gold Coast

Australia's Gold Coast consists of a 35 km long strip of beach resorts along the southeastern coast of Queensland, running north from the border with New South Wales. The most important resort is Surfers Paradise, a busy tourist place with many high-rise hotels and apartment blocks.

Most attractions along the Gold Coast consist of theme parks, such as Sea World, Movieworld and Dreamworld.

All sorts of water sports are available along the Gold Coast and there's plenty of nightlife. A wide variety of hotels and apartments is available, as well as numerous restaurants and bars. The Gold Coast is 150 km south of Brisbane and 900 km northeast of Canberra.

You should not come to the Gold Coast if you want peace and quiet. Instead, head for the hinterland, where you will find places, such as Macpherson and Border Ranges, which are a paradise for walkers. The subtropical rainforests of the Lamington National Park are particularly spectacular.
