Thale Ban National Park covers 101 km² of rainforest in Thailand's southern Satun Province, on the border with Malaysia. The park includes some of southeast Asia's best-preserved white meranti rainforests. The park lies in a hilly region, and contains numerous caves, waterfalls and limestone cliffs. From some of the hills the lake views are spectacular and Thale Ban's wildlife includes gibbons, macaque monkeys and mouse deer, as well as several rare bird species.
Accommodation is available in the park, in the form of longhouses on the shores of a large lake. The nearest large town is Satun, which has bus and air connections with Bangkok. The park entrance is near Wang Prajan, 40 km from Satun. Shared taxis ply the route. It is also possible to access the park from Malaysia.
