Tiga is a small coral atoll in the Loyalty archipelago. The island's protected side offers interesting underwater cliffs and deserted beaches, but it is rarely visited by tourists. The waters around Tiga are abound with coral and fish, making it an excellent place to go scuba diving.
Only several hundred people live on Tiga, most of them in the village on the island's northwestern corner, where the reef is most accessible and the coast least exposed to the elements. Just south of the village is Tiga's airstrip, which doubles as a campground, as there is no formal accommodation on the island.
You can also camp on private properties, as long as you ask permission from the owners. Inter-island flights connect Tiga with Maré and Lifou four times a week and Nouméa once a week. Tiga is 190 km northeast of Nouméa.
