photo

Île de Mogador consists of two islets off the coast from Essaouira. There is a huge fort that was built by the Portuguese. The islets used to be known as Îles Purpuraires, because of the purple dye, used by Roman emperors, was obtained there. Nowadays Île de Mogador is a bird sanctuary and permits to visit it are very difficult to come by.
