Abuko is a small fenced park close to the town of Abuko and 20 km south of Banjul. Even though it is only 105 ha (260 acres) it has a great variety of vegetation. A stream running through the park provides habitat for both riverside and savannah species.
The park's 270 bird species include some rare ones that are seldom found in other areas. There is an orphanage where you can see some hyenas and lions. There is a walking trail through the park's pristine tropical forest, but be careful as there are snakes and crocodiles. You might see monkey along the way as well.
You can get there from Banjul, with the bus heading for Brikama.
