Alaior is a small town, which is known for its shoe industry. The historic center boasts narrow lanes, white-washed walls and manorial houses of 17th and 18th century.

In Alaior's surroundings are very interesting prehistoric remains, including the taula and talayot of Torralba and the settlement of Torre d'en Gaumés. Also nearby is the town of Son Bou, which features a Paleo-Christian Basilica.
