Ali Sabieh is sometimes referred to as 'Ali Sabíẖ. There are several scenic places in the town, including old houses made from dark rock. There are some nice whitewashed mosques in Ali Sabieh
If you drive from Djibouti (city) to 'Ali Sabieh, 70 km to the southwest, you will pass two desert plains that are quite spectacular, Petit Bara and Grand Bara. If you come to the eastern end, special windsurfing devices are rented, with wheels that make it possible to surf in the desert. In 'Ali Sabieh you can see some traditional Afar huts
There is not much accommodation in the town and if you don't have your own transportation, it can be reached by train or bus from the capital. the town sits in a wide plain surrounded by granite mountains that include Ali Sabieh Mountain; Djibouti's national symbol.
