The Aouzou Strip is a strip of land in northern Chad that runs along the border with Libya. It is about 100 km wide. The strip got its name from the oasis town of Aouzou that lies within it.
The strip was claimed by both Chad and Libya and the two countries fought a war over it. In 1994 the International Court of Justice decided in favour of Chad and Libyan troops withdrew.
