Beqa is also known as Mbengga. The island is part of Fiji's Viti Levu Group of islands.

There are 9 villages on Beqa:

• Dakuibeqa is the main village of the Sawau people. It is known for the tradition of firewalking (the act of walking barefoot over a bed of hot embers or stones).
• Dakuni is also known for firewalking.
• Lalati.
• Naceva is another village where firewalking is practised.
• Naiseuseu.
• Nawaisomo.
• Raviravi.
• Rukua is also known for the tradition of firewalking.
• Soliyaga.

Most people in Beqa make a living in small scale farming and in the tourist industry. Apart from the forementioned villages, there are 4 tourist-resorts on Beqa:

• Beqa Lagoon Resort was formerly known as Marlin Bay Resort.
• Kulu Bay Resort.
• Lalati Resort.
• Lawaki Beach House.

The resort of Royal Davui is located on the small Steward Island, located just off the coast from Beqa.

Beqa measures 36.3 km² (14 sq mi). The highest point in the island is 440 m (1,440 ft) above sea-level. The main island of Viti Levu is 10 km (6.2 mi) to the south and Yanuca Island is west from Beqa.
