Cannes

Cannes is world famous for its International Film Festival, which is held every year in May. During that time the city is packed with celebrities. The rest of the year it is a posh resort on the Côte d'Azur.

There is little of interest in Cannes itself, but it is a nice place to watch people, especially on the Boulevard de la Croisette you'll see all sorts of 'weirdoes'. Cannes has some excellent beaches.

The Île Sainte Marguerite lies several kilometers from the coast. It is covered by pines and there are many walking trails. The island's beaches are as good as those on the mainland, but much less crowded. The smaller Île Saint Honorat is nearby and once home to a 5th century monastery. Both islands have ferry connections with Cannes.

There are numerous hotels, restaurants, cafés and boutiques in Cannes, but they are all quite expensive.
