Dali is a town in the western part of the Yunnan province. It is a very relaxed place, set against a beautiful mountain backdrop. Nearby is Erhai Lake where you can enjoy swimming or hike through the surrounding area.

There are several interesting sites in Dali. Dali Municipal Museum has an exhibition of local archaeological artifacts. Three Pagodas and Chongsheng Temple. On the other side of Erhai Lake is the tourist trap of Shuang Lang. Nearby Xizhou is a historical town with beautiful woodwork architecture. West of Dali is Cang Mountain.

During the Third Moon Fair Dali gets very busy with Chinese who come form all over the country to join the celebrations. The fair is usually held in April.

Xiàguān is the modern center of Dali. There are several hotels and restaurants in town. Dali is 2,170 km southwest of Beijing.
