East Moline is a suburb of Moline. Together with Rock Island and Davenport in Iowa, East Moline was formerly regarded as one of the so-called Quad Cities. The growth of Bettendorf, Iowa, resulted in its displacing East Moline from the group. The Quad Cities is a regional economic unit.
Not far from East Moline are significant railroad repair shops. The city has a correctional center.
There are several hotels and restaurants in East Moline. The city is at the confluence of the Rock and Mississippi river, in the northwest of Illinois, 200 km northeast from Springfield and 1,220 km west from Washington D.C.
