Fǔshùn (抚顺)
Fǔshùn was historically known as Fuxi (撫西). The city was founded in 1384, during the Ming dynasty.
There are several historic and cultural sites in Fǔshùn.
Points of interest- Xingjing City is the origin of the Qing Dynasty. It was also the first capital of the Late Jin dynasty. The area dates to 1616.
- The Yongling Tombs is the loaction where members of the former royal family were buried.
- Fǔshùn is home to a memorial museum that tells the story of Lei Feng, a soldier, who was stationed and died in Fǔshùn. The memorial is located at the Wang Hua District.
- The Fǔshùn War Criminal Prison was the place, where China's last emperor, Puyi, was imprisoned after WWII. The prison was converted into a museum in 1986.
- The Pingdingshan Tragedy Memorial Hall Ruins is a war memorial dedicated to the massacre of Chinese people by the Japanese in 1931. The memorial was rebuilt in 2007 and includes a pit filled with about 800 of the victims.
- The Ring of Life is a 157 m (515 ft) tall tower that is covered with 12,000 LED lights. It features an observation deck that provides excellent views over Fǔshùn. The tower was constructed in 2013.
Around Fǔshùn- The city's surrounding area consists of high mountains and thick woods.
- Houshi National Forest Park is about 55 km (34 mi) from downtown Fǔshùn.
- Saer Hu Scenic Area includes the Dahuofang Reservoir, which measures 110 km² (42 sq mi), making it the largest man-made lake in the northeast of China.
Fǔshùn is on the Hun River in China's Liaoning Province.
