The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens in the world, set up almost entirely with indigenous plants. The garden is on Rhodes Drive, on the eastern foot of Table Mountain and a place you'll likely end up in, when walking down on of the trails from the mountain.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden was established in 1913 to preserve indigenous flora. The area covers 36 hectares of landscaped gardens and 492 hectares of natural fynbos. It includes areas that exhibit the flora from a savanna, fynbos and karoo, amongst others. One of the highlights is the impressive collection of proteas.

The best way to get there is by taxi, or with your own transportation, as buses don't run very frequent. The nearest accommodation is in Cape Town on the other side of Table Mountain.
