Lanzhou is the capital of the Gansu province in northwestern China. The city sits on the Yellow River.

There are several intersting sites in Lanzhou.

• The Zhongshan Bridge (中山桥) was Lanzhou's first bridge over the Yellow River.
• Xiguan Mosque (西关清真寺).
• Lutusi ancient government (鲁土司衙门旧址) is a large complex of ancient governmental buildings.

Museums in Lanzhou include:

• Gansu Provincial Museum (甘肃省博物馆) has an exhibition of archaeological and fossil finds from Gansu.
• Lanzhou Museum (兰州市博物馆) has a large collection of pottery, porcelain, bronze, calligraphy, coins, jade, stoneware, etc.
• Gansu Art Museum (甘肃艺术馆).
• Lanzhou City Planning Exhibition Hall (兰州市规划展览馆).
• Lanzhou Painted Pottery Museum (兰州彩陶博物馆) exhibits the cultural pottery of Majiayao.
• Gansu Science and Technology Museum (甘肃科技博物馆) has an exhibition on modern science.

Lanzhou has numerous beautiful parks. Some of them are listed here:

• The Five Spring Mountain Park (五泉山公园) features five springs and many ancient Buddhist temples.
• Lanzhou Botanical Garden (兰州植物园) has a large variety of trees, flowers and other plants.
• Baita Mountain Park (白塔山公园) is not far from mountains at an elevation of 1,700 metres (5,600 ft).
• Around Xinglong Mountain (兴隆山) are many scenic temples. The mountain is covered with thick pine forests.

Lanzhou is Gansu's main transportation hub, so you'll probably end up there when travelling through the region. There are many hotels and restaurants in Lanzhou. The city is 1180 km southwest of Beijing.
