Lumahai Beach

Lumahai Beach is on the western coast of Kauai Island, just north from the town of Polihale. The area is like a desert and unlike Kauai's interior, receives very little precipitation. It is a good place to go, if you want to enjoy a day at the beach. Even if everywhere else on the island it is raining, there is a good chance that Lumahai Beach has dry weather.

Lumahai Beach is a marvelous 1.6 km (1 mile) long stretch of broad beach that is fringed by lush jungle. Trips up the Wailua River to the Fern Grotto are available there.

The U.S. naval base of Barking Sands Pacific Missile Range is only several kilometers to the south.

Accommodation and restaurants are available in the town of Polihale. Lumahai Beach is some 200 km northwest of Honolulu.
