Malaita and its outlying islands form the Solomon Island's province of Malaita. The main town in Malaita is Auki, which sits on the northern shore of the Langa Langa Lagoon. From there, trips to several nice lagoons and artificial islands are available, including the interesting Laulasi and Busu Islands.

Malaita is the most populous island of the Solomon Islands. It is the country's second-larget island. It is connected to Honiara by boat.
