Newport (Michigan)

Newport is a town in the southeast of the U.S. state of Michigan. The town was settled in 1830 by the French as Rivière aux Signes (Swan Creek). It was renamed Newport in 1836, because of its location, not far from Lake Erie.

There are several places of interest in Newport, including St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, which was established in 1882.

Newport is 20 km southwest of downtown Detroit and 125 km southeast of Lansing.
