La Visite National Park covers 11,419 hectares, including pine forests, grasslands, montane broadleaf forest and large parts of the Massif de la Selle, which reaches a maximum elevation of 2,275 m. The park was established in 1983.
The park includes one of Haiti's most spectacular hiking trails that runs through the massif between the towns of Kenscoff and Seguin. The hike takes about 5 or 6 hours and it is for experienced people only, although the locals use the trail to cart produce to the markets on the other side of the massif.
One of the most stunning rock formations you will see along the way is the krase dan, or broken teeth. The park is home to more than 80 different bird species.
Shorter hikes through La Visite are available as well and camping inside the park is allowed.
The park is 22 km south of Port-au-Prince.
